Giants Pull Off an Overtime Victory in Philly, 26-23

After taking the lead of the NFC East with a victory over the Cowboys the Giants came into Philadelphia expecting to tumble over the Eagles and take an easy advancement to 9-4. Sunday's match-up was anything but easy as the Giants were evenly matched up most of the game and were forced into over time. After losing the coin toss in over time the Giants got the ball back and found themselves in field goal range on 4th down. They were faced with the dilemma of putting the game in the hands of Jay Feeley, who missed three game winning fieldgoals against Seattle two weeks ago. Surely enough the Giants called on him once again and he nailed it to take the victory.

In a game where the Giants anticipated an easy victory they found themselves fighting in the end. Although they did not perform as well as they should have, they have regained confidence in their kicker which is well needed going into the playoffs. The Giants gained 437 yards, their third-highest total of the season (490 at Seattle, 456 vs. St. Louis) and had 28 first downs. The close score can be contributed to the Giant's defense not playing as strong as they have in previous games and the absence of middle linebacker Antonio Pierce. They will be without Pierce again next week against the Kansas City Chiefs at home. The Chiefs lost a close one against Dallas last week. Giants need a victory next week to keep the division lead if the Cowboys win.

Giants Take the Division Lead Over Cowboys, 17-10

The New York Giants hosted the Dallas Cowboys in one of the season's most important games. The Giants lost in overtime to the Cowboys earlier this season and at the start of this game shared the division lead but 0-1 in their season match ups with the Cowboys. The Giants were led by their defensive quarterback Antonio Pierce, who scored a touchdown after a Dallas fumble. The Giant's Offense was not as productive as prior weeks but they did enough to get the job done. Brandon Jacobs scored a one yard touchdown after a long gain by Tiki Barber and Feeley kicked a field goal after missing his first attempt. While the defense soared, the offense struggled. Tiki Barber rushed for 115 yards, but needed 30 carries to do it. Eli Manning completed only 12 of 31 passes for 152 yards and was intercepted twice by Aaron Glenn – once in the end zone and a second time to set up Dallas’ only touchdown.

The Giants advance to 8-4 and face a struggling Philadelphia Eagles team in Philadelphia next week. They should crush the Eagles considering they are without four of their top starters.

Giants Choke Against the Seahawks 24-21

Division east leader NY Giants faced the NFC leader Seatle Seahawks in a battle of the NFC's best teams. The New York Giants orchestrated a 4th quarter drive for a touchdown and a two point conversion to tie up the game with under two minutes left. Seatle got the ball, went three and out, then punted away to the Giants with less than a minute left in regulation. The Giants then made a few spectacular plays and took the ball within field goal range calling a timeout with 4 seconds left. One of the leagues top kickers in Jay Feeley came onto the field and missed. The Giants then lost the coin toss in overtime and managed to get the ball back within field goal range only to have Feeley come up shy. Just when you thought the Giants were running out of chances they once again got the ball within 48 yards for a field goal that landed just shy of the goal post. Seatle then got themselves within field goal range and scored on their first attempt. In this gut wrenching loss to the Seahawks Giants had 490 yards compared to Seatle's 355, 8 more first downs and one more takeaway. The Seahawks were dominated in all aspects of the game except the Giants' 16 penalties and the final score. Giants still are tied for the lead in the NFC East at 7-4. They face their division co-leaders the Dallas Cowboys next Sunday at Giants Stadium. Big Game, they lost the first match up in Dallas!

Giants Take Down the Eagles 27-17

In an eastern division matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and the NY Giants the Giants came out with a victory and took the lead place in their division. Eli Manning came into Lincoln Financial Stadium and threw three touchdown passes, all to his top recieving threats - Burress, Toomer and Shockey. With this victory the Giants place the Eagles at the bottom of the division and take a game lead over the Cowboys. Giants have to be sure to not take too much confidence out of this game because the Eagles were missing quarterback Donovan McNabb, who is out for the season and star wide reciever Terrell Owens, who is suspended indefinitely. Giants advance to 7-3.

Giants Lose to the Vikings 24-21

In this poor display of football the Giants managed to lose to one of the worst teams in the league. Entering the game 6-2 the Giants were looking like one of the top teams in the league. After this disappointing loss to the Vikings, the Giants raise many questions to critics on whether they are as strong as they appeared in the past 8 weeks. Giants fall to 6-3 in their division.

Giants First Away Game Victory Over 49ers 24-6

In a game holding the 49ers as heavy underdogs the Giants traveled all the way across the country to take their first away game victory of the season. As stated by veteran Amani Toomer, “the hardest teams to beat are the teams you’re supposed to beat. This is a big step for our team.” The Giants took the victory over the 49ers in week 9 of the regular season, but did not do so playing their best football. The Giants did manage to hold their opponents from scoring a touchdown for two games in a row. The offense however did not look as strong and convincing as the former weeks performances. Non the less, the Giants advance to 6-2 and lead the division. This season's record at the halfway mark is the best its been since the 2000 season when they won the NFC Championship title.

Emotional Victory for the Giants Over the Redskins 36-0

In a display of offensive excellence and complete defensive dominance, the New York Giants absolutley embarassed the Washington Redskins in week 8 of the regular season. In an emotional week surrounded by the death of long-time Giants owner Wellington Mara, the NY Giants came out playing with extreme heart. The death constituted the loss of the heart and soul of the Giants organization. The players came out inspired and held the Redskins to only 125 total yards and less than 21 minutes of possession for the game. The win was a great victory both physically and emotionally for the NY Giants organization. The loss of Mr. Mara will be well remembered for many years to come.

Giants Take Down the Broncos 24-23

In a close well fought game in week 7 of the NFL regular season, the Giants came back from a 13 point deficit to take the victory over the Denver Broncos. The Giants trailed the Broncos 23-10 in the opening minutes of the 4th quarter. They bounced back with a touchdown pass in the final minutes of the game to Amani Toomer in the middle of the endzone to take the lead. In the victory, Toomer, Barber and Burress all recorded a touchdown along with a field goal by kicker Jay Feely. On the defensive end, Giants middle linebacker Atonio Pierce had a game high 13 tackles, 12 unassisted. The giants improve to 4-2.

Giants Lose in Overtime to the Comboys

Giants played a very close game taking the Dallas Comboys into overtime with a touchdown pass to Jeremy Shockey. The Giant's final drive was followed by a blown oppurtunity with the Giant's rookie Jacobs fumbling at the 1 yard line. The Giant's got the ball back and scored to tie the game 13-13. Comboys won the coin toss to get the ball first in overtime, which resulted in a game winning field goal by Dallas kicker Cortez. Although the Giants sufferred defeat, their defense showed major signs of improvement. Even though they are ranked 3-2 they are looking strong enough to take out their division and make a strong run for the playoffs.

In another display of Giant's talented offense, Eli Manning threw for 4 touchdown passes in the 4th quarter of their win against the Rams. Each of NY's 5 top offense threats all scored in their victory. Manning had 19 completions and was just shy of 300 yards on the day. Giants head into their bye week the NFL's highest-scoring team. Buress is named NFC offensive player of the week. After their bye week, Giants face the Dallas Comboys in Dallas.

Giants lose 45-23

In a display of talented offense by both the Giants and the Chargers, the Giants defense failed to hold up their end. Eli Manning set a career high for passing yardage before halftime including two TDs. Giants defense gave up more points in this game than the first two games combined. Tomlinson came out big this game with over 200 total yards and three rushing TDs and one passing TD. After a slow first two games Tomlinson proves himself as one of the leagues premiere backs. Giants face the Rams next Sunday.

Giants and Saints Face Off on Monday Night Football

Giants Over Saints 27-10

The Giants had a big time victory over the Saints on Monday Night Football in their home stadium. The game was set up to bring sportsmanship among the NY Giants and the Saints, granting the Saints as the home team (also bringing in 1000s of Saint fans). Playing as visitors in their own stadium, they scored 17 points off New Orleans turnovers. The Giants had six-takeaways – three interceptions and three fumble recoveries – their highest total since they had seven in a victory over Washington on Sept. 19, 2004. Eli Manning is proving himself to critics all over the league, and Giants fans have alot to look forward to this season.

Giants Smash the Cardinals 42-19

The New York Giants faced the Phoenix Cardinals in their season opener on Sunday September 11th. The Giants were down 13-7 at halftime and came back to win by a score of 42-19. The Giants scored two special team touchdowns in the second half. With the addition of Plexico Buress and another Bryan Jacobs to compliment Tiki Barber, the Giants looked strong against the Cardinals. The Giants play the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football next week. Should be an exciting game for both Saints and Giants fans.
